Air France Posters | The Art that Inspired Wanderlust
December 9, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - December 15, 2020 @ 6:00 am CET
Among the airlines of the world, Air France has always gone to great lengths in promoting the services it provides to the world, and issued a series of posters of stunning design. All are highly collectible, especially the Planisphere series to which this poster belongs, designed by Lucian Boucher. Born in Chartres, France, he graduated from the Ecole de céramiques de Sèvres, and began his career as cartoonist for the satiric newspaper Le Rire. In the 1920s he worked actively as poster designer for the movies and the advertising industry. He designed a significant number of lithographies inspired by the surrealism style.
For this presentation, Marianne Hermann of Paris City Art will provide a special video on Lucien Boucher and the imagination that went behind the work of Air France marketing. She will share her vast knowledge on the subject of Mid-Century promotional mapping for travel, specifically as it relates to Air France.
